Afghanistan in Bristol won the toss in the first day night match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and decided to bat first. After rattled initially by the Australian bowlers, they managed to post a moderate 207 for getting all out in 38.2 overs. Cummins and Zampa took 3 wickets each and had a great outing with the bowl in this match.
For Afghanistan Rahmat Shah scored 43 in top order and Nazibullah Zadran top scored with 51 in middle lower order. Rashid Khan hit a few towards the end to take Afghanistan total over 200. He finished on 27 from 11 balls.
A chase of 208 was never going to be an issue for Australia. And when Aaron Finch was going all out for attack, the game was headed for an early finish. However his dismissal at 66 runs from 49 balls slowed the game down and Australia took almost same number of overs (34.5) to close out the game.
For Australia, David Warner finished not out on 89 runs but the innings was a bit slow for his standards costing Australia 114 balls in their innings. Hopefully with the opening match out of the way, David Warner has set his eyes on some big scores with a good match time with bat in the middle in this match.
